Cook’s Country magazine asked readers to submit their favorite heirloom recipes, and the stories behind them, for a one-of-a-kind collection celebrating classic American family dinners.
Ellen's submission was one of 116 recipes the publisher selected from over 1,000 entries. Ellen was rewarded with a signed copy of the book and a one-year subscription to a cooking magazine.

Chef Ellen was awarded third place in the Annual Chicken Soup Cookoff for her traditional matzo ball soup! The cook-off featured celebrity judges and more than 40 of Houston's top restaurants.

oking Stage!Chef Ellen was selected as the feature chef on the Whirlpool Cooking stage at the Sugar Land Home & Garden show. In live demo's, attendees learned how to make four of Chef Ellen's favorite recipes for Super Bowl fare, as well as sample the tasty creations.

The ease and fun of making this dish made it a simple choice. To her delight she won the contest and a very special cookbook. It is one of her students' and friends' favorite recipes. Used at many dinner parties, it is perfect for large gatherings. One morning Chef Ellen and a friend made over 80 chickens for a rehearsal dinner.

Winner of the What's in a Name contest, Ellen's acronym SPICE will appear on the Guilds brochures, applications and advertising materials. This new guild supports the mission of Recipe for Success through personal commitment of volunteers.

Recipe for Success' Volunteer of the Month
Recipe for Success is privileged to have many professional chefs among its volunteer ranks. One such chef is Chef Ellen.
She has consistently volunteered on Fridays at Kipp Elementary, and loves sharing her knowledge of food and the trappings of a kitchen with her students.
